Liberty Matters Action Alert
July 15, 2004
New name, same con game.
The Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee has scheduled a hearing at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, on S. 2590, the Americans Outdoors Act.
S. 2590 and the House version H.R. 4100, Get Outdoors Act, are nothing but updated versions of the old CARA bill that establishes permanent trust funds (entitlements) to condemn and acquire more private property. This time supporters claim the federal government must spend billions of dollars each year to buy more land for parks and recreation facilities so obese Americans can exercise off the pounds in the great federally-owned outdoors.
Over forty five percent of the United States is currently under the control of government agencies and if this legislation passes, $3.125 billion will be available each year allowing the government to take considerably more land off the tax rolls.
