CARA

Conservation & Reinvestment Act

"Congressman Don Young and Senator Frank Murkowski have filed bills calling for the largest amount of money ever attempted to be allocated for federal and state land acquisition of private property in America.  The bill currently filed is HR 701, titled The Conservation and Reinvestment Act.

The current bill does much more than just increase the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the land acquisition funding mechanism.  It increases the total amount of offshore revenue to the government for CARA from $2.8 billion to $3.1 billion with over $1 billion a year available for acquisition of private property."
